2. How to apply for an internship in Cape Town?

In order to apply for an internship, you first need to provide information on what kind of internship you would like to do, your fields of interest, study requirements, etc. Furthermore we need the internship period and your available dates. The more information we receive from you, the faster we can find you an appropriate internship position in Cape Town. To apply for an internship please fill out the online enquiry form or send us an e-mail. Don’t worry if you don’t have any concrete ideas yet. 3. Planning for your stay abroad

After first obtaining and examining your documents (i. e. resume, application or cover letter), we will begin the actual search for an internship in relevant companies. We will then send you suitable options in and around Cape Town. This service is free and only upon successful placement, that is, if we have offered you a suitable position and you also accept this, we raise our placement fee. Once the mediation of the internship is completed, we conduct all other organisational matters, such as finding accommodation, a rental car, etc. We also offer advice regarding your visa requirements, flight deals, tours, etc.

4. Do I get paid as an intern?

By law, internships in South Africa are not entitled to be remunerated. As an intern in South Africa you will get a visa that only allows you to carry out an unpaid internship. It is therefore important to calculate the costs for your entire stay abroad well in advance.

5. Application deadlines and duration of placement procedure

For most internships there are no application deadlines, but you should apply about 3-6 months in advance to allow enough time for the organisation and planning process. Usually it takes between 2-6 weeks to find a suitable internship position. In addition, you should schedule about 3-6 weeks for the organisation of accommodation, a rental car, visa application, etc. Depending on the availability of suitable internships and accommodation, short-term applications and placements are also possible.

6. Period of internships

The minimum length of an internship in Cape Town is on average 3-6 months. Some companies require a longer period, others are more flexible. The chances of an internship of your choice depend greatly on your skills, but may also increase by the duration of your stay, as companies usually prefer candidates for a longer period of time.
