Living costs in Cape Town can vary significantly and very much depend on your lifestyle. Generally, the living expenses are a bit lower compared to most European cities. The costs for shared accommodation vary between R4,000 – R6,500 per month, depending on the area you want to live in. As in most cities, the rent in the city centre is higher than in suburbs. When choosing accommodation you should consider that public transport in South Africa is not very well developed and reliable.
